Genetec is looking for Software Testers, who possess a thorough knowledge of QA practices and techniques.
As a Software Tester within a Development Team of the Device Integrations Infrastructure group, you would be working in close collaboration with the Developers and be exposed to everything related to the development of modules that bring system wide features to manage devices into our Security Center Product, as well as all attributes that affect scalability and performance.

The ideal candidate for this position would enjoy a variety of QA tasks including functional testing, basic manipulation of video devices and using automation as a means of increasing efficiency whenever possible. Someone who steps up to do whatever is needed without waiting to be asked and is disciplined and methodological in debugging function level issues.
Expect to be a full partner, impacting the products, the quality, the processes, and the team’s direction.

Responsibilities:

• Execute function level tests on the various components managed by the team in Security Center, thus ensuring quality releases of SW
• Design test scenarios and procedures to validate new features during the product development phase
• Understand end-to-end use cases and be proficient at feature level testing, debugging and isolation of the defects, as well as ensuring the quality of the product
• Propose and implement new tools / practices / test automation, to improve team effectiveness and efficiency
• Active collaboration with other Test and Development teams to help resolve problems found during validation
• Document and follow up defects identified during tests
• Participate with the team for the evaluation and estimation of test efforts for upcoming tasks
• Share acquired knowledge through the regular updating of our internal documentation
• Participate in reviewing technical documentation

Requirements:

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
• Motivated individual who enjoys teamwork and has excellent interpersonal skills and communicates in French and English
• Solid analytical experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and ability to follow through on issues until resolution
• Enjoys the occasional challenge of unfamiliar tasks
• Solid technical writing skills to document specifications and test results

Technical Requirements:

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows, client-server applications and services
• Good knowledge of test strategies and techniques, test case creation and executing tests at Functional level
• Good knowledge of networking protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, IP)
• Good Knowledge of Wireshark

Assets:

• Knowledge of IP Video Surveillance
• Knowledge of video codecs (i.e. MJPEG, H.264, H.265) and attributes that affect video quality and bandwidth
• Knowledge of different testing strategies (Functional, Performance, Soak)
• Knowledge of Windows Performance Counters
• Ability to create basic scripts using PowerShell or other scripting language
• Knowledge of Microsoft Test Manager, and Team Foundation Server
• Knowledge of Agile / KANBAN methodology
